SUN 29 AUG 2021
After breakfast enjoy a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus spent much of His ministry in the Galilee region. Sailing across the Galilee you can view Capernaum, Tabgha, Mount of Beatitudes and get a great view of the surrounding towns where Jesus would have walked. On disembarkation you will get the opportunity to view the ancient boat at Ginossar, of Jesus boat as it is known. A number of years ago when the waters of the Galilee receded due to drought, a boat was uncovered dating back to Jesus’ time. The restoration of that and the typical fishing boat style can be seen at Ginossar. The shores of Galilee have unearthed a magnificent city in recent times, named Magdala – a whole fishing village is uncovered and here you will see the fishing pools and the fantastic new church with the pulpit set as a fishing boat. The church is aptly named after women from the Bible, Mary Magdalene in particular. Capernaum, a firm favourite for Christian visitors is the site of two ancient synagogues and a church – it is said to have been where Jesus healed Peter’s sickly mother and healed the man possessed with a devil. Matthew the tax collector also came from Capernaum. Continue to Tabgha and Mt. of Beatitudes, where the Sermon on the Mount would have taken place. After lunch you will get the opportunity to head to the Golan Heights for a walk beside the water springs of the Banias – Caesarea Philippi. Jesus appeared to His disciples here, but in ancient times it served as a place where false Gods where worshipped, including the God of Pan. Take a scenic journey back to Galilee. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
